The human brain hides quietly in that gap between our ears, yet is the most precious gift and influences everything we do, think and feel. Mind That Gap are passionate about inviting curiosity about this amazing organ and empowering our clients to improve control of their own mental wellbeing.
Mind That Gap's ethos is upstream and the goal is prevention, so is suitable for everybody, regardless of their current state of mental health. Mind That Gap sessions build resilience by gently raising awareness of how the brain works and offering simple new psychological habits to aid self-care.
Mind That Gap's approach is just as relevant to attendees' personal lives as to their work lives, so the benefits extend beyond the workplace (see feedback section for examples of this).
Mind That Gap can deliver half-day or full day workshops (with the guarantee of NO role-plays and NO enforced engagement!) Evidence shows that participants are more likely to soak up learning when anxiety is low and enjoyment is high - these are consistent priorities for Mind That Gap deliveries and we take great pride in our feedback regarding this (see below)
Mind That Gap can also deliver guest speaker inputs tailored to suit your meeting, training day or conference. With affordable prices, Mind That Gap are confident at delivering excellent value for money. Please contact us for a full price list and discounted offers, including 20% reduction for charitable, educational and NHS organisations.
Our main speaker Neil Sladen has qualifications in Psychology (BSc with Hons) and Person-Centred Counselling (MBACP) and managed to squeeze 30 years of policing in between (mostly working with partner agencies to support vulnerable people).
Neil suffered acute anxiety at the beginning of his police career, resulting in a short stay in Royal Preston Hospital (but did not reveal the cause until 20 years later!)
Neil was recognised in the Queen's New Year's Honours List 2020 for his volunteer work with a Fylde counselling charity and for his support towards Lancashire Constabulary colleagues with his Mind That Gap sessions
Neil has been delivering his Mind That Gap sessions since 2014 and always asks for anonymised written feedback from attendees. Feedback is a gift and Mind That Gap are extremely grateful for and proud of all feedback received, which has continuously helped shape and develop the Mind That Gap content and style.
Neil was great, really enthusiastic, good presentation style. I felt comfortable from the start of the session. I’ve learnt some good tips and realised a few things about my habits. Really great session, would recommend.
It was really engaging – points were really well made with some excellent take aways for me to do. Lots of good examples. Loved knowing at the start that we weren’t expected to join in!
